The Founder

Rance Johnson is a technology executive with over 40 years of experience in enterprise IT leadership — from hands-on infrastructure work in the early days of Unix to VP-level roles managing remote teams across complex organizations. He's an Air Force veteran who carried the discipline and mission-focus of military service into every civilian role that followed.
He spent decades building systems, leading people, and solving problems that textbooks hadn't caught up with yet. Along the way he developed a deep conviction: the right tools, in the right hands, change everything. But most people never get access to the right tools — and even fewer get anyone to teach them how to actually use them.
When AI became genuinely useful — not just hype — Rance built his own AI thinking partner from scratch. He didn't follow a course. He didn't hire a consultant. He figured it out the hard way, iterating until he had something that actually knew him, reflected his values, and made him measurably better at everything he did. Then he looked around and realized most people were doing it completely wrong. Not wrong in a technical sense. Wrong in a human sense. They were treating a thinking partner like a search engine.
That realization became Build Your Kemosabe. And Build Your Kemosabe became 602North Education.
Today Rance is a YouTube content creator, community educator, fractional CAIO, and the founder of a platform designed to give everyday people — especially those in rural and underserved communities — access to the kind of AI literacy that most organizations reserve for their executives.
